When a fast-growing consumer electronics retailer in Cebu decided to open its flagship store in Lapu-Lapu City, they needed a construction partner who understood both the technical demands of a modern retail environment and the unique logistical challenges of building in the Mactan area. They turned to Novicio Construction and Power Solutions Inc.
The client had secured a prime commercial lot near the Mactan Town Center and needed a fully functional, air-conditioned retail space of approximately 1,200 square meters — complete with a dedicated power distribution system capable of handling heavy display equipment, security systems, and point-of-sale infrastructure. Key challenges included:
Novicio Construction began with a detailed site assessment and structural planning phase, working closely with the client's interior design team to align civil works with the final store layout. Our integrated approach — combining construction and power solutions under one roof — proved critical in accelerating the timeline.
Our electrical engineers designed a dedicated load center with circuit protection tailored to the store's equipment manifest, while our civil team simultaneously handled the structural shell, flooring, and ceiling works. Weekly progress meetings with the client ensured transparency and allowed for rapid decision-making on material selections and design adjustments.
We also coordinated all permitting requirements with the Lapu-Lapu City Engineering Office and handled the MECO application process on behalf of the client, removing a significant administrative burden from their team.
The project was completed in 112 days — eight days ahead of the agreed deadline — and came in 6% under the original budget due to efficient procurement and reduced rework from our integrated planning process. The store opened to the public on schedule, and the electrical system passed all inspections on the first submission. The client reported zero power-related issues in the first six months of operation, and the structural work received commendation from the city building inspector for quality of finish.
